Craziest Week EVER.

So this week I have three interviews (for real jobs...holy crap), I've taught like a kazillion times--once with a Universtity Supervisor watching!-I've driven all over creation seeing everyone I know, and I'm going to a conference in Atlanta. I mean holy crap people.

By the way, I know my sister has not yet posted a picture of the amazing teeth, but I not only saw all three teeth, I heard/watched/wore Theo eating crackers. He crunched, gummed on them, and then wiped his gummy cracker hands on everyone in sight. It was awesome.

My first week of teaching in the field is complete. My fifth/sixth graders at Apple Creek cannot decide if they love me or what; as I have suspended one of them and discussed South Park with others. That's right...I suspended a kid. To be fair, I simply had her in the hall for telling me she was "going to me up". But then the principal came by when I was talking to her in the hall and it was suspension from there. Now I am to be feared.

Its interesting because I don't think I would have ever thought about speaking to a teacher the way that even some of the "good" kids do. And they think I can't hear or something. There was a rather loud "She's mean" whispered among the goody two shoes irls in Language Arts, to which I whispered back "Not always" and watched their eyes wident to saucers.

The boys love me. I told one to stop talking like Cartman from Southpark during class and so during inside recess he demanded to know how much South Park I have watched and was delighted to know that I am proficient in SP Trivia. He also asked me to go to Incredible Pizza with him...at least someone is asking me out. It's fine that he's in the 6th grade...

I have two more weeks in the field. I am not sure if I am dreading them or if I am excited. Being there so EARLY is a little off-putting, as is the standardized tests that I have to prepare them for. At least I am not bored.

Spring Break = working 8 hours a day. Not much of a break.

I simply don't understand how my friends can lay down $1500 for a ROAD TRIP to California (also, who wants to be in the car for20 hours?) or some skeezy trip to Cancun. I don't live extravagantly during the school year, we go to the same places, do the same things. And yet they keep coming up with these trips. I tell you, it's downright annoying.

So, I'll stay right here in Norman America and sleep 16 hours a day, watch ridiculous amounts of television, and read. Because by the way, I decided that no Spring Break trip meant I could buy 5 books at Barnes and Noble. One for each day.Bring it on.

Tomorrow...parent/teacher conferences.

That's right, after exactly one day in the field and merely 5.5 hours with these children, I will be participating in parent/teacher conferences. From the teacher side.

What the hell.

Commencement Countdown

Today I participated in the hell of confusion that is known as...Commencement Countdown! I ordered announcements (I was gouged), got my cap and gown (surprisingly not gouged there) and for the coolest part...MY OU RING!

Now, I may not be an A&M Aggie that can't take it off until I die, and it might not be cultish like at Notre Dame, but I am totally psyched. Dad, on the other hand, not so much. There might have been gouging involved. Not might have been, there was tons of it. Happy Graduation to me!

So friends and family, prepare to receive a ridiculously overpriced announcement in about 4 weeks. Get excited.

Update...

I did not annihilate any children. I did send one to the hall because I asked her to do something and she said "Make me." I wanted to throttle, but I sent her to the hall to prepare to be respectful. So instead of open rudeness she made faces at me behind my back when she thought I wasn't looking...until I turned around and made one back and got her to sit down and shut up. Not sure if thats what I'm supposed to do...but it worked!

Tomorrow--well, technically today since I leave in 6 hours and 45 minutes--is my first day of 5th grade / 6th grade.

Yes, my friends and family, I begin my odyssey of teaching tomorrow/today at Apple Creek Elementary in Moore. I am feeling very teacher-y as I just blew my paycheck at the Scholastic Book Fair and I have laid out sensible shoes for tomorrow. That's right, sensible over sassy.

Everyone go ahead and say a small prayer that I don't annihilate any poor child in my 5th / 6th grade split class. No really...do it.
