I do heart books...

Hardback or trade paperback or mass market paperback?
Whatever I can get my grubby little hands on.

Amazon or brick and mortar?
Amazon. I don't even know what Brick and Mortar is but please do not think I won't check it out.

Barnes & Noble or Borders?
Barnes and Noble. I always forget Borders exists.

Bookmark or dogear?
Like my mother, it depends on the book.

Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
It's not so much alphabetized as CATEGORIZED. I try to keep the trashy romance novels out of the living room and put the books that make me look smart in front. I know, SO snobby.

Keep, throw away, or sell?
Depends on the book. I'll trade a box of trashy romance novels for another box of trashy romance novels. But I'll keep the others for the rest of my natural life.

Keep dust jacket or toss it?
It's not near as impressive without the dust jacket...

Read with dust jacket or remove it?
It's impossible to read with the dust jacket on. I will use it as a bookmark (the flappies?) but I can't read in bed with a dust jacket.

Short story or novel?
Depends on the author. Typically novel, it takes longer!

Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)?
Anthology.

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
Umm...

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
When the book is done. What do you mean tired?

“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”?
Dark and stormy night. Totally a good deal.

Buy or Borrow?
I want to own them and keep them forever and live with them. No borrowing for me.

New or used?
New or Like New.

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse?
I prefer recommendation, browsing takes SO much time and requires SO much decision making.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
Tidy endings. Cliffhangers piss me off as well.

Morning reading, afternoon reading or nighttime reading?
All of the above. I'll read any damn time.

Stand-alone or series?
Yes

Favorite series?
Diana Gabaldon, good stuff

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
Well, people have heard of "Kaffir Boy" and "Cry, the Beloved Country" but not THAT many have read them...

Favorite books read last year?
a few by Christopher Moore, The Passion of Mary Magdalene, The Cologne Witch, Eloise Takes a Bawth

Least favorite book you finished last year?
the James Frey Book...Little Pieces? SO unpleasant...

What was the last book you finished?
FlukePractical Demonkeeping, some Nora Roberts special of some sort...That was this past weekend.

Some Things

1. I am incredibly bored, but I have a dirty house, a paper to write, and a garage that desperately needs to be cleaned out. But I don't want to do any of those things. So I am bored.

2. The Red Box DVD rentals at McDonald's = AMAZING. It's like a DVD vending machine. Whoever came up with that deserves a pat on the back people. And it's good movies! For a dollar! I'm totally in like.

3. Telling me my OU student vision plan is $9.45 a month and then wanting all 12 months at once does not equal $9.45 a month. That is just not truth in advertising.

4. Spring Break = a tad overrated when you don't do anything with it.

5. My passport expired and I want to go get a new one in case something fabulous comes up and I have to leave the country. I feel like that's a logical need. When my driver's licence expired it wasn't near as glamorous.

6. I'm still pretty bored....

7. I am officially OUT OF BOOKS. I have read evreything in my house so many times now that I can't reread anymore because its just not fun.

8. Yes, I know, I could go to the library. But I always feel like I'm abandoning them when I turn them back in. The library is like a sad orphanage or something because some books never get checked out. What if I return one and it's never checked out again? I can't live with that guilt.

9. It might be possible that I have now seen every Law and Order rerun that TNT can offer. It's a sad day friends.

10. I always feel like I need to end these lists on a good list number, like 5 or 10. I actually feel that way about all lists. I'll add things I have already done to my To Do list so that I can a) cross them off and feel like a productive person and b) get to a good list number. Is that weird?

An Arrival

I began my job on August 17, 2006. Today, for the first time, I got a printer.

I know, WTF mate? How can I be expected to perform at a certain level without the appropriate tools? Well, it only took me 4 months to get a phone, so you knew a printer would be a while...

I'm printing things currently with a certain abondon of having the printer right here in my office and not having to walk across the hall or street to beg someone else to print for me.

It might even be classified as a reckless abandon. I'm just saying.
